College Employers Scotland seeks research partner to drive workforce vision
College Employers Scotland (CES) is seeking a research partner to inform a stronger understanding of Scotland’s college workforce needs and how they might evolve to meet future demands.
The work will support a positive, evidence-based case for workforce transformation at a time when colleges are navigating sustained financial pressure and rapid technological change, including the growth of AI.
The findings will also support the College Sector of the Future workstream – a joint initiative by Colleges Scotland, the Scottish Government and the Scottish Funding Council to build a college system that is more equitable, future-proofed, empowering and financially sustainable.
Callum Chomczuk, CES Director, said:
“Awareness of the importance of colleges as community anchors and skills engines has never been higher.
“At the same time, even with the welcome uplift in the 2026/27 Scottish Budget, colleges continue to face significant financial and technological pressures.
“That makes it essential that we understand the costs, skills requirements and innovation goals that will shape the workforce in the years ahead, while safeguarding the vital contribution of the college workforce.
“I look forward to working with a research partner to take forward this hugely important project and help secure the future of colleges as essential community and economic assets.”
