College Employers Scotland (CES), the national body for colleges as employers, has introduced temporary leadership arrangements as preparations begin to recruit a new director.

It comes after former Director Gavin Donoghue was appointed permanent Chief Executive Officer of Colleges Scotland, the advocacy and membership body for Scotland’s 24 colleges.

To support ongoing activities, John Anderson, CES Head of National Bargaining, has been named Acting CES Director. Jillian Cheape, CES Business Services Manager, is now Acting Head of Services.

CES hopes to begin recruitment for the permanent director post in July.

John Anderson said: “It’s an exciting and busy time for College Employers Scotland, with work moving forward on a number of important fronts.

"We have a tight-knit team, and Jillian and I are delighted to have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities. This will ensure recent progress is maintained until a permanent director is recruited.”
