Comment on results from the EIS-FELA's ballot to extend industrial action
Commenting on today’s results from the EIS-FELA’s ballot to extend its mandate for industrial action, Gavin Donoghue, Director of College Employers Scotland, said:
“We are pleased that the EIS-FELA did not meet the threshold to continue with strike action or the resulting boycott. We hope this will mean an end to the significant disruption faced by students in the college sector since May.
“College Employers Scotland provided a full and final pay offer to the EIS-FELA for a cumulative and consolidated £3,500 pay rise over the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic years. This offer would provide an average pay rise of 8% for lecturers. For lecturers at the start of the national pay scale, the increase would be around 10% to a starting salary of almost £39,000 a year.
“Given the significant financial pressures already facing colleges, we urge the EIS-FELA to accept the employers’ full and final pay offer.”
