Comment on Today’s Talks with the EIS-FELA

Gavin Donoghue, Director of College Employers Scotland, said:

“College Employers Scotland met with EIS-FELA today for the fourteenth time to discuss the 2021/22 pay settlement.

“At the meeting, EIS-FELA reiterated their pay claim of £1,200 – which employers have already stated is completely unaffordable.

“The employers’ fair pay offer of £1,050 remains on the table for lecturers and is the maximum the sector can afford.

“The pay offer from employers is more than that already accepted by teachers, police officers and firefighters, and keeps lecturers in Scotland with the best pay and conditions in the UK.

“We remain open to exploring creative solutions to resolve this industrial action with EIS-FELA but re-iterate that further strike action will not result in an increase to the current pay offer.”
