Comment on Industrial Action by EIS-FELA
Gavin Donoghue, Director of College Employers Scotland, said:
“College Employers Scotland has agreed to meet the EIS-FELA on Tuesday 3rd May to hear their suggestions on ending the current industrial action.
“We hope their position is realistic and constructive – employers have been clear that no further funding for pay awards is available from college budgets. The current offer of £850 consolidated uplift and a one-off £150 pandemic recognition award goes as far as we can in the current dire financial climate with the funds we have available from Scottish Government.
“This pay offer is a higher than that already accepted by Scotland’s teachers, civil servants, police officers, and firefighters, and would ensure lecturers continue to enjoy the best pay and terms and conditions in the UK.
“As always, College Employers Scotland will meet in good faith, and encourage EIS-FELA to engage with the current offer and end their current industrial action.
“In the meantime, Scotland’s colleges are doing everything they can to minimise disruption and support students during this critical exam period.”
